Hi Roy J. Tellason, hope you are having a nice day

RJT>I take it that's a win9x program? I'll be doing this under linux...

I'd recommend the CDRecord suite then. I use the Cygwin w32 port
on the laptop and it beats the adaptec/roxio stuff all to pieces
w/ the drive I've got.

Not only can you select the write speed to use for the burn but
it also lets you use the main system memory as an additional buffer
space to what ever ram the drive may have. In my case the drive is
supposed to have 2meg and no under run protection, in reality it only
has 1.8meg.

If I tried a 4x burn (max speed) roxio would blow up, and the only
way was to run at 2x. :<

Using cdrecord I was able to burn at 4x by telling it to use 32meg
of the 160meg in the system as extra buffer space. (34meg buffer w/
600k write speed going empty?? yeah right!) ];>
