I tried to install the FAT32.IFS driver from netlabs. After installing
the DANIDASD.DMD (1.44 release and definitely before installing FAT32.IFS
drivers), my system stopped recognizing my HPFS drives. It could not find
an assortment of programs and drivers on my HPFS drives during boot. The
system came up, but most things on the desktop were broken.
I had to restore my original OS2DASD.DMD (restore the original config.sys)
to get my WPS back to normal again. Fortunately all seems to be well.
I have FP17 on my Warp4 system. Since it isn't eCS I believe that I needed
the DANI driver.
Rather than experiment further and run the risk of messing up my drives, I
installed the NETDRIVE and VFAT plugin/demos to see if they worked better.
A little bumbling around and I managed to get my thumb drives to work fine
with long file names using FM/2.
Barring an epiphany of some sort, or someone showing me what I did wrong,
I'll guess I'll have to stick with the NetDrive solution for the time
being.
Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences with me. I definitely
appreciate it.
