Politicians have always lied. They will often promise anything when after
votes and even after election they lie because they are appealing to
diverse constituencies. Nothing new in any of that.

What is new is Bush and his crowd. They are dedicated ideologues, utterly
convinced they are on the right path and only their path is the correct
path. We
have had conservative and liberal presidents, but never the type represented by Bush.

I don't think the public really understands Bush. How many know he is a
Protestant fundamentalist who rejects even evolution? How many know he
really believes in the supply-side idiocy? Unlike Reagan and his crew, who
simply used
it as a convenient argument to help enrich his already rich friends. How
many understand the Bush and his crowd are determined to take the country
back to pre-1932 days? New Deal, Fair Deal, all must go. Government must
be shrunk to 1920s size and business put back in the saddle running the
country.

This is what the far-right ideologues are all about and sad to say most
Americans haven't a clue about this kind of thing. And who is to tell
them? The
media? Not likely and with rare exceptions they haven't. Whenever they
start telling the truth, they lose their precious access, their insider
information sources. They are not about to do that and they don't.
