For all their prattling on about Jesus, fundamentalists take most of the reasoning and justifications from the Old Testament. Although not pre-emptive in the usual sense, the Jews stealing the land of the Canaanites would qualify because after all it was all for good of god who told them that the land was/should be theirs. That is a justification still being used by religious Israelis to justify taking Palestinian/Arab land. You can justify anything using the Old Testament, which explains why it has been around so long.
