First I should point out that the only aspect of Davies's book under discussion is the brief excerpt quoted here. On the basis of that quotation, the view being suggested is indeed creation science. Whether he is a Christian fundamentalist or not I have no idea, although the number of books he has published with "god" in the title suggests something along those lines. In any case, Davies is neither a renowned physicist nor philosopher. His renown rather is that of a popularizer of science. Other than that you would never have heard of him. If you were to find the "insights" of such a popularizer difficult to understand, the fault would be entirely yours.
