I'm not sure if you noticed a few of my posts here a year or so ago, when
we had a session on various things, including evolution. I am
definitely a mechanist. To me, humans are "just" machines whose
workings can be explained by our current understanding of physics, with no
magic required. I failed miserably in my attempts to convert Geo et al to
this view.

At any rate, I am prepared to defend Paul Davies against your smear of
"creation science". I must say that he has gone a bit soft for
me. I prefer the cold, merciless logic of Richard Dawkins. However, the
fact is that neither you nor I have read Davies' book, and it is quite
likely that neither you jnor I could really understand his insights (he is
a widely respected scientist).
