Hi Matthias,
Matthias Tichy to Paul Walker, 22 Mar 99 09:42.
MT> Since we would not get te sources this is out of questions, but are
MT> there a considerable ammount of fido-system who does not have EMSI
Could have sworn there were mailers which only did YooHoo, rather than EMSI.
I can't remember their name, but I'm sure others can. :)
MT> capabilities? What do you say about that ip-nodes which only speak the
MT> binkd protocol?
Not a lot.
MT> I doubt that they are good enough for fts-1. And does anybody use
MT> modems without a recovery protocol, so no errors creep in the
MT> comunications. Also the telephone lines are quite good nowadays.
They are in some countries, not in others. If you really want (and if you
can wait ;) I can try and locate people who've actually had experience with
having to drop down to FTS1 transfers - I can remember them talking about
it, just not who or what echo.
PW>> Making EMSI the preferred protocol I wouldn't mind, but removing
PW>> FTS-1 is a big mistake.
MT> This would be a compromiss i could defend.
Works for us two, then. :) Anyone else?
