The BE6 is pretty much the same design as Asus P2B or Tyan S1846. With a
proper BIOS you'll be lucky to achieve a bit over 1GHz. The catch is
finding a CPU and RAM at a reasonable price. All can use the DIMM RAM
from your S1590. We populated my sister's S1846 several years ago with 3
256M DIMMs at around $23 each. Finding that kind of RAM today would be
an expensive exercise. 256M PC100 DIMMs today in a low enough density to
work in those boards is not easy. The problem with CPU is the same.
Under 800 MHz isn't terribly hard or expensive, but to max out the
board's 100MHz FSB capability is more expensive than a current state of
the art CPU at a considerably higher CPU and bus speed. 350-550 MHZ to
fit them is cheap and easy, but doesn't really net you an improvement
over your S1590.
