subject: word6 replace failur

Christopher,
CG>If I've got this right: Word6 fails in its Edit Replace function
CG>when the document holds some white space, then a paragraph mark
CG>followed by a table.
CG>Word finds the search string "^w^p" (White space followed by a
CG>Paragraph mark), but does NOT effect the replacement string "^p".
CG>To see the effect:
CG> Start a new document
CG> Tap the spacebar (white space)
CG> Tap the Enter key (paragraph mark)
CG> Choose Table, Insert, conform (Table)
CG> Ctrl-Home, Shift-Ctrl-End (select the entire document)
CG> Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V, Ctrl-V, Ctrl-V (duplicate the stuff)
CG> then
CG> Edit Replace
CG> search string: ^w^p
CG> replace string: ^p
CG> replace All.
CG>You'll probably see NO Change in your document.
That's because you're doing it incorrectly. According to your
instructions above, you do not have "white space" (and I really don't
know what you mean by that) between your last character and the
Paragraph mark, but you have a "space" character - try turning on the
Show All Characters (the Paragraph symbol on the toolbar). You will
undoubtedly see a mid-level period between every word.
Instead of using "^w^p" as your seach criteria, use a >space< - " ^p"
and then just the "^p" for the replacement - I can tell you for a FACT
that it works, as I have done it MANY, MANY times.
