Hello All!
I'm looking for a recipe for a German salad dressing. I had gone to a
restaurant with some friends, a real nice place with what I'm assuming to be
a traditional formal German dining room ( I've never been to that type of
place before ) and a very nice patio setting as well, where we sat. I ordered
the Roasted Pork on an onion roll.
Before the main dish was brought out, we would be served a simple
salad with slices of rye and pumpernickel bread and a small serving of potato
salad along side. Well, here comes the problem, I only eat a few types of
Dressings and what the waitress had named off was not to my liking or I had
NO IDEA what it was. So I asked if they had some French or Thousand Island
dressing for the salad ( here in the States I have found that every
restaurant had one or the other ) and was told that they didn't have either
but that they had one that tasted similar to a French ... So I agreed, along
with the rest that was what we all would have, by their reactions I figured
that they were not too sure about the choices either but were hesitant to say
anything and let me ask all the questions ( Lucky me, RIGHT ?!)
When the waitress came back with the salads, there was a pail yellow
dressing on it. Thinking to myself, French dressing is basically orange in
color or even a reddish orange for the " spicy " type, but what in the name
of all that is Holy on this Earth is this. I wasn't the only one with a
puzzled look on my face. The waitress said to give it a try ... And guess
who got to be the sacrificial lamb, You have it right again, ME ! Well, to
make a long story short, it was great! It tasted a little like french
dressing but better. NOW here is were the trouble starts, I wanted to know
what it was made of and where I could get some for home use. I was told that
it was made in-house and she couldn't tell me what was in it ...
AAAAUUUUGGGHHH ! I finally try something new that I like and I can't get the
recipe to it, THIS ISN'T FAIR AT ALL !
If anyone has any Idea what the dressing was and has a recipe for it,
let me know ... By the way, the potato salad was outstanding, white in color
with little bits of what seemed to be chives and parsely. And No !, she
wouldn't tell me what was in that either ... I hate that woman!!!
