The big advantage that I can see with those methods is that the downloaded
text is first compressed,  though of course you're sitting there connected
while the compression is going on,  something that doesn't happen with a
point setup,  where it's done ahead of time.  I never used QWK or other
packets here,  downloading in non-stop-read mode early on,  when I was
using hardware that didn't support any other options (a cp/m box),  and
switching to a point setup as soon as I was able to.
