ROFLMAO. Ah the history of Lebanon.

(A) The other militia leaders are still in being & the weapons are
still around for the druze under Jumblatt, Amal, the phalange etc.etc.
There was a meeting a while back of the powerfull in Lebanon & it was a
1980'es who's who of militia leaders.

(B) No one wants a strong Lebanese mil. Imagine the horror in Tel Aviv
& Damascus if the Lebanese acquired a working air defence system, sea
defence system, well equipped army etc.etc.

It has been a sine qua non of recent middle eastern politics to keep Lebanon weak.

(C) That purposefully leaves Lebanon open to invasion/foreign take
over/occupation. The only force which can stop that is Hezbollah. This has
been purposeful as a sovereign Lebanese mil could buy missiles (esp Russian
SAM & Anti Ship missiles) etc quite openly on the world market &
really the Israelis & Syrians would have no way to object to it.

Chuckle. Why? They have an American veto in the UNSC so.....
