It's a matter of clearing the battlefield. No different to emptying the
villages. They want Unifil gone so there are no observers. They've done it
several times before

"Israeli troops bomb UN Norwegian unit, Israeli soldier injured by resistance
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 9/17/1998

The Israeli occupations forces on Wednesday afternoon bombarded the western
sector of south Lebanon, while Israeli warplanes carried out mock raids in
the airspace of main cities in south Lebanon.

Lebanese security sources said the Israeli artillery targeted Eita
al-Jabal, Tabnin, Hdatha, Rashaf, Kafra and Yater towns. The enemy
bombardment coincided with machine gun fire in the border area and in the
central sector.

The Israeli warplanes flew over vast areas of south Lebanon at low
altitudes, carrying out mock raids over Sidon, Tyre, and al-Nabatieh. The
planes were targeted by Lebanese army and resistance anti-air-craft fire.

A Lebanese resistance group attacked an Israeli occupation position in
Hamid and its surroundings in the occupied part of south Lebanon with
rockets. In a statement, the resistance said direct hits were achieved.

Meanwhile, an Israeli military spokesman said that one Israeli soldier was
wounded in a mine explosion in the occupied part of south Lebanon. In
statements quoted by Israeli radio, the spokesman added that the explosion
took place when an Israeli armored vehicle passed over a land-mine thought
to have been planted by the Lebanese resistance. The explosion resulted in
damage to the vehicle and wounding one Israeli soldier.

A soldier from the Norwegian contingent working within UNIFIL was wounded
in the left hand when an Israeli tank fired shells against Norwegian
soldiers who were carrying out routine activities near Balat town to the
north of the occupied town of Marjyoun. The soldier was transferred to
al-Naqoura field hospital for treatment and was in stable condition,
although he lost a finger in the incident.

UN spokesman Fred Eckhard said that UNIFIL strongly objected to Israel
against this incident, adding that two Norweigan soldiers were killed in
the same area in 1993."

But hey no one expects you to know much esp wrt history.

Definitely so.

Precision weapons require a coordinate.

Most Indian troops died serving in the Indian army (under the British) in
both World wars & many other colonial wars. However unlike Isreamerica
we are no longer a colonial power & frankly we should revert to our
position of "no interests east of Suez" esp now Hong Kong has
gone back to China.

It's be even nicer if people engaged in war did not commit war crimes but
this is also apparently not possible.
