That was true right up to the point when Israel started attacking Lebanese
army facilities.  Those attacks go far beyond their right  to self-defense
against Hezbollah and contradict the stated Israeli wish that the Lebanese
military replace Hezbollah in the south.

If Israel really wanted a sovereign Lebanon they would be working in
concert with Lebanon to disarm Hezbollah.
