You never get completely convergent evolution. Genetic drift will fix
different alleles at random, whilst different favourable alleles will arise
in the two populations.
For instance, both populations faced the problem of polluted water.
Caucasians solved this by killing off the pathogens with alcohol, whilst
mongoloids brewed a nice cup of tea. Hence a lot of Chinese people lack
alchohol dehydrogenase and keel over after a pint.
