Hah ... was down at the local school at 3pm yesterday, keeping the 
mad motorised parents away from the kids and school buses, 
expecting the huge dark cloud above to do its usual and drench 
allcomers at 3.05.

The thing spat a little but moved north to hover over 
Whangaparaoa,  developing a massive upside-down boil underneath 
its black wedge.

This ominous bulge then dropped a column of dark rain - all very 
impressive, at that distance.

The wife's parents phoned hours later from Red Beach on 
Whangaparaoa to report they still had three or four inches of hail 
sitting around their apartment...Orewa had become a winter 
wonderland !

There'll be a big surf up on Queenstown's beach next...blast the 
Greens and their jeanetically-warmed globes !
