Telebit have not given me any constructive advice for a paid incident,
although obtaining details via email, apparently giving my reported problems
of excessive retrains with Hayes Optima Business modems and GDC FastPro II
modems a low priority. The Australian distributor whom I originally purchased
the Telebit Fastblzer 8840 from NEVER gave me any technical support.
General Data Comm have promised to examine the issues I raised, but have yet
to put me in contact with someone who really knows their product.
Hayes Australia have given a few small suggestions, which didn't help.
Motorola ISG did supply me with the reference guide for the 326X Fast free of
charge, but ceased supporting their product when they pulled out of the
Australian market without the promised firmware upgrade to support 33600 bps
operation.
Where does one go for a decent modem with good support? USR are out of the
running with their lack of timely SDL releases for the Australian market.
I haven't checked whether Bay Networks still sell Penril modems though...
