Nick Douglas discussing "Cat in the Box"
with Richard Claypool...
ND> You see, there was a radioactive isotope placed inside the box
ND> with the cat. There was also a vial of poison that would kill the cat
ND> if an electron from the isotope hit it. There was a 50% chance of that
ND> happen- ning. Who was it that proposed this experiment?
Erwin Schr”dinger. It's commonly known as "Schr”dinger's Cat" and the
experiment was never performed nor ever intentioned to be performed.
ND> Anyway, the theory was that the two probabilities battled with
ND> each other until it was known what happened. I don't see why it
ND> matters, since once we knew what happened, the other probability
ND> wouldn't exist. Nick Douglas, newbie extraordinaire
Yes, but the point of the experiment is to ask WHEN do the probabilities
collapse into one outcome - inside the box before we open it or only when we
open it?
