Bob,
BD>I haven't seen much discussion in here about Word 97. Everytime I re-read
the
BD>new features, I think "ho hum". One of our more skilled word processing
BD>persons just received Office 97 on his new PC at home. He uses Office 95
t
BD>work and is quite proficient with it. I asked him what he thought about
BD>Office
BD>97 and he said he hates it. I asked him why and he specifically mentioned
BD>toolbars. He said its very difficult to see what the buttons do, since
hey
BD>are grayed out, until you move your cursor over them. He specifically
BD>mentioned the text justification buttons as being very difficult to see.
BD>I think this is one of Microsoft's dumber ideas and cannot see how it came
BD>out of their useability labs.
BD>It appears to me that Office 97 may be one of the growing trends in
software
BD>-- change for change sake to keep the revenue generation at a constant
ace
BD>from installed base of users.
We use Office97 at work as well, and I see no problem with it - except
that it tends to load a bit slower than 95. I haven't found much use
for the Office Assistant - except to be somewhat entertained by the
"cute" animations.
And you STILL can't put columns in a frame (or text box).
