Howdy!
I've got a stumper for y'all to solve; at least it is stumping me... :)
I recently purchased a 35" RCA picture tube-type television. I would like
to have the option of getting video sound through my audio system.
I ran a set of interconnects from the line output jacks on the TV to the
line inputs of my preamp. No matter which input on the preamp (video, aux1,
CD, etc.) I tried, a high level hum came from the speakers. As soon as the
interconnect is removed from the preamp, the hum is gone. No matter which
input is selected on the preamp, the hum is present.
Then I tried the same thing using the line output jacks on the VCR to the
preamp. Same Hum. Then I tried running the interconnects from the variable
output jacks on the rear of the TV directly into my amplifier. Same Hum.
Switching the internal speakers on the TV from "off" to "on" makes no
difference.
The TV and VCR work fine together and the sound from the TV itself is OK.
The stereo system also works fine from any source; CD, Tape, turntable, etc.,
except when I try to tie in the video. Any Suggestions? Thanks.
