I thought the lyric was just that for years.  I think I finally figured
it out while hearing the tune on the radio--some time during the past 
year, I think (and this is curious, because I'm not crazy about 
"Groovin'", or most of the Rascals' stuff.
  Of course, I've since forgotten what the last word or words really is.
Couldn't be "...you and me and a [2-speed] Leslie"..
