You are looking in the wrong place. FroDo uses a fossil for the direct
control of the modem, most people are using either X00 or BNU. Its there
you should be looking for the flow control stuff.

OTOH if you use PPoint to set it up for you, and throw PPoint away, that
is one approach.

Nope. Forget who did the actual modem design in that case, whether it
was Exicom themselves or if it was rebadged. I do remember the modem was
a bit strange in some ways.
