To the best of my knowledge, the Ottawa-Hull area where I live is
not scheduled to get any new area codes.  I can see requiring
dialling the area code when calling from Ottawa to Hull as Ottawa
is 613 and Hull 819 area.
Metro Toronto is going to put in a parallel area code to 416.
And guess what?  All local phone calls in Metro Toronto even to
your next door neighbor, will be 10 digit numbers!
Having to dial 10 digits freaked a lot of people in Toronto when
they split 416 to make the suburbs 905 and even though they are a
local call, you had to dial 905 then the desired number.
