That's the way I saw it when I built my place. Seems kinda dumb, but
it seems most contracters will wire houses with lighting and outlets
shared. A good electrician will not tie them to the same room.
I made an exception in one case where the power for the smoke
detectors are wired to the bedroom lights. That way I *know* there
are power to them.

That is *possible*. Unfortunately it is required in kitchens (at
least in Californika) to have *two* 20-amp services. Most folks will
use a half-wide, dual-20 which insures that they will be the same
phase. But the larger breakers.... [grin]
