Yes, Maynard makes another excellent point.  This is a basic
troubleshooting technique that I have long ago forgotten.  This too
would prove your config.sys works and determine if your .ini files
are munged.

From this point you could also run checkini if you have that
utility.

Finallly, if you had desktop archiving turned on why not just throw
up you hands and restore from the most recent archive (if it recent
enough).  If you haven't looked at that lately, you can tell os/2
how often to archive on startup.  Personally, I have mine set to 3
days and find it is a bit too far apart.  I should set it to
archive more often.  Archived desktops have saved my bacon many
time, although I've lost some info due to my 3 day archiving rule
(or worse, if I leave the computer on for many days, I lose a lot
more).

Hmmm, I think I'll change that right now while I'm thinking of it.
