subject: SWRs & more power DEBATE

RW>Do you know the formula for calculating forward and reflected power? It
RW>has little to do with ohms law. And SWR is the ratio between forward
RW>power and reflected power.
............................................................................
I stand corrected, and thanks for being patient as I learn. What has thrown
me is the fact that many, and I do mean many SWR meters and the like seem to
need certain amounts reflected power to move their needles.
.05 watts to 5 watts shows a flat match, but at 50 watts you get 1.2:1
On a MFJ antenna analyzer it showed my antenna at 1.2 across the whole band.
But using both a Micronta, and a Para Dynamics SWR meters it took 45w to get
enough refected power to move the needles.
HmmMmmm? Big confused look on my face....
When I was on CB I could get a reading with just 4 watts, so I am a little
confused as to why 2-meters would do this. Maybe both the meters I used are
cheap, but both are new, and well I am concerned that they are not showing a
true reading. Could it be my coax, it is Mini foam 95% shielded, I just
don't know.
This will require more study...
