Salut Cameron,
JK>> There's a royalty on both, VHS and Audio-DAT tapes. What I'm using is
JK>> DAT-Streamer tapes, which have no royalty on them, and their quality is
JK>> better (specified for longer use, higher speed, etc.) Plus, they exist
JK>> in 90m and 120m (m for meter) version, whereas the Audio-DATs are only
JK>> available up to 60m/120min.
CH> Now that sounds interesting. :)
But you have to be careful with the 90m and 120m types, there's some players,
especially walkman type players, that don't like them very much.
JK>> But recently there has been a huge price drop on CD-Rs over here. They
JK>> have become cheaper than even DAT streamer tapes.
CH> Has anyone tested those things against sun damage? In time I'd like to
CH> get a writer and move some old cassette stuff over to a better storage
CH> medium.
You mean how a CD-R behaves when exposed to direct sunlight? Well, I wouldn't
even consider to do that, but I would also not expose my DATs or diskettes to
sunlight.
All these melt relatively early. (For example when left in a cars windows in
summer.)
bye ....
Joe
