subject: Missing Mail

BV> I am also a little confused as to why Bill cant get the same echos
BV> from both yourself and David, yet you keep saying that this would
BV> mess up the sending of mail to QLD.

PE> Actually it would get to QLD no problem at all. It wouldn't get to
PE> Dave Drummond's board, or anyone feeding off him (the whole chain
PE> after him).

BV> I would have thought that your system would only send mail to your
BV> BOSS node. So, what difference would it make if Bill pointed from you
BV> using his JabberWOCky point number ? Surely, you don't send mail
BV> directly to David. This means that it must first go to Dave Hatch who
BV> then sends it "up the line". It must still get to QLD surely ?

PE> Fidonet mail has a list of all the people who have already seen this
PE> particular message. Unfortunately this list is only 2-D, ie you will
PE> only find in it 711/809, 711/934 etc. So Bill's point address and
PE> Dave Drummond's address look exactly the same. Since when I process
PE> the mail I immediately say "Bill's seen it, Dave Hatch has seen it,
PE> now send the message to both of them", then I send the message to
PE> Dave, it goes up to Brisbane, but when the person before Dave says
PE> "has Dave seen this message - YES - ok, I won't send it to him".

The answer to that problem is that Bill needs both a point address on
your system and a point address on Daves system. In other words not use
his point address on Daves system when pointing off you.
