I have considerable sympathy for Libertarian positions though I am 
a registered Demo and consider myself slightly left of center. My 
reason for not becoming a Libertarian is simple:  you don't see 
Libertarians in bread-lines.  In other words, it tends to pay 
little regard for the down-and-out.
