subject: Page numbering

Lauren,
LT>I've set up some documents. The first page is a cover page, the second
LT>has the table of contents, the third onwards is text.
LT>In this case, I want the numbering to start on the third page (text) and
LT>to start at page one. I've put a section break before the start of
LT>page three (I sorta thought I read somewhere that it would make it
LT>work). I select Insert, page number, at the top of the third page, and
LT>tell it to start numbering from page 1 and to skip numbering the first
LT>page. What I get is nothing on the first page, second page numbered 2,
LT>third page numbered 1, fourth page numbered 2 etc. So I'm going o.k.,
LT>except that the second page has a number on it that I dont want. How do
LT>I get rid of it?
Let me tell you - this is a PAIN!!! I wanted to do something similar,
but with a cover page (no number), Table Of Contents/Illustrations (two
pages with lower case Roman numerals), then start "standard" numbering
at "1". It took a bit of fudging around, designating which
Header/footer should be the same as the previous and such.
The key is in designating the Page Number format (Insert, Page Number,
Format), and the header/footer design (same as previous, or not).
