I forget the technical descriptions of chaos that I read when Mandelbrot
plots became popular. However, speaking pragmatically, suppose that you
found that in order to predict details of the weather at a particular place
and time next week, you would need to measure a zillion properties, and
each measurement would have to be known with an incredibly high accuracy.

Air and water move through the atmosphere with tiny perturbations due to
brownian motion. What if the accuracy required was smaller than this
motion? Chaos is (IMHO) a situation where it is KNOWN that the outcome can
be GREATLY affected by really SMALL variations in the input.
