I look at this from a practical point of view also, with emphasis on one
key phrase:
The competition.

According to ratings, Rush is #1, Hannity is #2, and Savage is #3.
Rush himself is riding high right now, as the de facto head of the GOP.

Savage obviously wants those ratings too.
So he is going to attack the competition.
