On 07-06-04, Mike Powell said to Jean Parrot: JP> This has been noted here. I have two printers, one LPT1 and one JP> USB and they are a world of difference when used. I have dedicated one JP> to B&W and tother to CYMB. Seeing as CYMB printing is duty heavy, that JP> is the USB one. MP>Is CYMB another way of saying "color"? Are heavy duty appliance better MP>suited for USB, rather than parallel ports? Actually, the bus used to transfer data, especially for a printer, is less of an issue than the speed of processing of the print job by both the CPU as well as the printer. A parallel port may work fine if the bottleneck is the printer. If the printer pauses because it's out of data to process, THEN it's time to change the bus for performance reasons. Of course, you may want to use a particular bus for other reasons, too, such as ease of connection, etc. ___ *Durango b211 * DurangoMail for Windows NT/9x --- Maximus/2 3.01* Origin: COMM Port OS/2 juge.com 204.89.247.1 (281) 980-9671 (1:106/2000) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 106/2000 633/267 |
