(in my case at least) Having watched the show (including the Tracy 
Ullman Show) since the beginning, it's a hard habit to break. Not to 
mention a fair amount of curiosity about what the new eps are like...

See above. It's just sad to see such a great show that I loved so much 
decline so badly. It's like watching Ghandi doing infomercials for 
Halliburton. I'd rather it just ended.

There is only a superficial resemblance to the first ten or so seasons.
Not just in the writing, but visually and aurally. That great comedic 
timing is long gone. Those are/were very significant traits which I 
loved so much about the show.
