Well, maintaining them makes a big diff... my 351M (yes, a FoMoCo product, 
not Chevy ;) ) has 133k miles, and still runs pretty good, and doesn't burn 
oil aside from what the rear main seal dumps on the exhaust ;-)  Just 
changing the oil every 2500 on it..
