CG> I make coffee-substitute out of canteloupe and pumpkin seeds. A
CG> quaint after-dinner beverage for those who don't want to drink
I don't really like coffee but was curious as to how you could make such
a thing.
CG> coffee. I make my own jam and give it away. Most any fruit that
CG> is in season. Nectarine, peach and plum, marmalade, and so on. I
My husband would probably kill for your marmalade since I don't like
that either so do not make it.
CG> If you still have it I'll bring my hand-grinder I purchased out
CG> of Rochester earlier this year and show you how to make mint tea
I bought some mint tea and do drink it sometimes. I find a mix of the
tea, lemon juice, and honey really helps if you have a cold. Other than
that, I really do not use mint but was looking for some good herbs to
grow and my inlaws suggested growing mint. They also found out what
mint is like and I forgive them for the mistake.
CG> It seems that climbing vegetables, such as concurbits (pumpkins,
CG> cucumber etc) and beans would be ideal for several reasons:
CG> 1) they can be trained vertically
CG> 2) once off the ground, weeds don't reach them, so
CG> anything that is more than three inches away from the
CG> stake is a weed. (keep your nephew indoors during
CG> *this* operation!)
I have suggested cucumbers, have tried peas, and beans. I was not sure
if cucumbers would do well again because of the clay. Peas did okay,
but I didn't train them soon enough or plant them early enough. As a
result, I ended up almost ripping them apart to find all the pods. The
beans never did really. Either due to the soil, or any other conditions
I'm not sure. Remember, I am just new at this so it will take a while.
CG> Ok I'll bite. If you are blind, how are you going to look at your
CG> mint?
By smell. You should have guessed that one. Anyway, my husband tends
to move things without warning me so I usually ask him where .....he has
put things.
CG> Also, before we get tossed out of here and into another
CG> conference (grin!) what reader are you using? I played around
CG> with a couple for a friend here in Toronto, then drove down to
CG> Atlanta to obtain lots of demo disks of other systems. I could
CG> make copies of those diskettes for you if you are interested.
I appreciate the offer. I am using the Bluewave offline program and I
have Dectalk speech hardware along with Asap speech software to help
read all your interesting messages. I am enjoying the echoes a lot
especially when I can receive so much more good information.
