DW>> Yeah, but then the calls are timed, or so I am lead to believe.
PE> That's not what I've been told. I'll find out for sure when I get my

DW> I hope they are not timed. Then I can spend an hour adding 1456 to all of
DW> the numbers in my comms phone list... ;-)
Ok, just got my Optus bill. Calls are not timed, they are 25c
each. And because I have selected Optus as my carrier, I get
6% off my whole bill, which includes local calls. Therefore my
local calls are only costing me 23.5c each. They all get
itemized too, which means I can find duration and everything.
I know someone who racked up a large bill in local calls, and
it didn't sound right. This solves those problems!
BTW, you might find it easier with your comms phone list to
just make your dialling prefix ATDT145602 instead of ATDT, and
so long as you don't call any STD numbers, you should be right.
For the odd ones, you can use a different prefix.
However, if you want to do OPTUS a favour, then don't use Optus
for any calls more than 7 minutes in duration. Of course, to
do YOURSELF a favour, you want the 23.5c calls, which means
Optus for everything.
BTW, Optus now allows you to AUTOMATICALLY pay your phone bill
on the due date straight out of a bank account or on your
credit card. ABSOLUTELY BLOODY BRILLIANT! I've applied for
a form already. I already get my electricity bill paid
automatically from my savings account. Citibank also pays my
credit cards off on the due date.
From memory, my sister who was living in Brisbane at the time
said that she got her council fees paid by direct debit, which
I find a bit hard to believe. I'll have to ask here again.
BFN. Paul.
