Dave Neuman was thrown for a loss after he said:
DN> I'm talking about the years he was here, not one game.
I was originally talking about their development along the same timeline.
DN> Actually, Pitt was beginning to develop an outstanding passing game when
No, they weren't. Pittsburgh took to passing more NOT because they thought so
much of O'Donnell's arm but because they were dealing with the loss of Morris
due to drug suspension (They might have done more running if Pegram didn't
fumble so much).
DN> he left the team, and were starting to put up more points to go with
 DN> that always stellar defense.
Actually, they weren't a very good offensive team, despite scoring 400+
points. As hard as this might be to believe about a team scoring 400 or more
points, they just didn't have what it took to be a good offensive team. They
relied too much on their kicker and while they did manage to score 39 TDs,
they also kicked 34 FGs (When they first started coming out with redzone
stats years ago, I felt that they didn't make the grade because they lumped
everything together. If a team goes into the redzone 10 times and scores all
10 times, people are just so happy with that but if another team goes into
the redzone 10 times and only scores 5, they're disappointed. If the first
team comes away with 10 FGs and the other comes away with 7 TDs and 7 EPs,
the latter team scored 5 more points. My feeling then and now is that you
should add up the points scored on FGs to points scored by TDs (Only the 6
points) and divide that by 6 points to get a true picture). Not only did they
waste their opportunities, they also turned over a lot of them (Pittsburgh
was -2 in takeaways).
DN> I really don't know how you can say Kordell is already a better QB
DN> than O'Donnell he's started 2 games in the NFL.
I'm look at their careers NOT today vs today (You're the one who
automatically assumed that I was talking in those terms). Hell, O'Donnell is
a better QB now than Bradshaw was as a rookie but no way in hell will he ever
be as good as Terry ever was.
DN> he actually HAS learned, don't go around saying he's already better than
 DN> O'Donnell.
He IS better than O'Donnell was when he started.
