Hi,
I thought I'd jump in here. It sounds like you're joining the MACC.
(Muilt Area Code Club)
How many new area codes are you getting?
Here in the Chicago area we had two, the metropolitan area 312, and
the rest of Northeast Illinois 815. They added 708 the metropolitan
area out side of the city proper, and said it would be enough to take
us to the next century, and beyond. I guess the next century came
three years ago when they cut the 708 area code into three parts,
adding 847, and 630. Then last year they cut the 312 area code and
added 773. Now there are rumors that the 815 area code will be cut,
soon, and then Chicago may have to be cut again.
The funny thing is, they originally wanted to use the 630 area code
for pagers, and cell phones only, but a lot of business people
lobbied against it with the state government.
Ten digit phone number? I guess we have it here in Northeast
Illinois. What's next? Thirteen digit numbers?
