you need a device driver to list in config.sys and mscdex.exe in the
autoexec.bat file...

ie: the following...

=== config.sys ===
device=himem.sys
device=vide-cdd.sys /d:mscd000
=== end ===

=== autoexec.bat ===
mscdex /d:mscd000 /m:12
=== end ===

you'll need to copy all three files to the floppy... and create the above
two files on the floppy... the cdrom will be the next available drive
letter... hopefully the harddrive is already ready to go and accessible as
c:... if so, the cdrom will be d:... vide-cdd.sys is available in many
places... himem.sys and mscdex.exe are specific to the version of DOS you
are booting from...

once you get this all working, then i highly recommend that you make a
directory on the harddrive and copy the windows files from the cd to the
harddrive, remove the floppy disk and then start the setup program...

ie: md c:\options
    md c:\options\win95
    copy e:\win95 c:\options\win95
    c:
    cd options\win95
  [remove the floppy]
    setup

and go from there... that's pretty close to the procedure i remember
using... however, i generally set everything up and preped the harddrive
with the above files and then booted off the harddrive and then did the
install... to do that, you'll also need to add the format.exe (or .com?)
file to the floppy... boot from the floppy, format c: /s, copy the
config.sys, autoexec.bat, and those three files named in them to the
harddrive... remove the floppy, reboot, then do the above ie: lines...
