WAD is a level file for DooM, DooM ][, and Heretic (maybe even for
Hexen). These files can contain new graphics, sounds, and levels.
You can use different editors to do these files.
I used these:
NWT (New Wad Tool)      For creating new graphics, and sounds.
DEU 2 and DETH          For creating levels (DETH had better node builder).
Level editing seems first very difficult, but it really can be
learned in few days. Then you can learn to make beter, and beter, and
beter levels.
