Have you checked the feed rollers, Mark? The "rubber" that's
used on them gets hardened with age and paper residue, and causes
such feed anomalies. There are specific cleaners for them, after
which a very light once-over with super fine sandpaper usually
restores correct feeding, unless there's physical damage somewhere.
You'll have to at least partially disassemble the case (fun in
itself, for sure).
