For a while my XP machine would not complete POST when I turned it ON.
the past two days it has started up as it should.

Here is what was happening:

I would see the name of the CPU.

Nothing would appear on the screen after that line.

One time I left it On for over an hour and nothing happened.

I pressed the Key to enter BIOS Setup but it wouldn't show up.
So after trying it several times without luck, I pressed the power button
in until it shut down, then held down the Key for entering BIOS Setup and
then pressed the power button and got to see the BIOS.

I didn't see anything changed in the BIOS so I exited without saving
anything and the computer finished the POST and I could log on.

I learned to hold that Key down when turning the computer On and when the
BIOS screen showed I pressed the CTRL-ALT-DEL Keys , which usually would
start the XP box up then.

The computer is a HP a1430n and when I turn it On the 3 LEDs on the Keyboard
flash once.

I can't remember if this computer ever Beeped when I've turned it On.

If the power is removed, from my turning the UPS Off, when I do turn the XP
pc On I hear the Fan run but that is the only noise I hear.

I looked at a .JPG I made of the Motherboard from HP's website and noticed
there is a Header named "Audio", which I need to open the case and trace
the wiring from it to see if HP put a speaker or sounding device in the unit.

I hope life is better with everyone else's computers.

I've wondered if the Button Battery on the Motherboard may be the trouble
maker?

Thanks for reading.
