This is a possibility George, but any engine manufacturer does not make all 
the parts for their engines. They look around for suppliers and GM has 
purchased what is now DELCO to do aways with the go-between handling costs. 
So, because a Delco part fits your engine still doe not make it, the engine, 
a GM product. In the book called: The Atomic 4, the story is well documented 
about this Atomic Cie that bought the bunch of Jeep motors to convert them to 
marine use. And they still put-put along.
