GR> Regina,
GR> If a quicker response is needed for something, go ahead and use the
GR> e-mail address. The nice thing about the FIDONET is we can do this
GR> with an off-line mail reader. Our internet gateway for e-mail is a
GR> little inconvenient for pen-palling. Let me see what I can do for
GR> Jeremy. My apologies on his being left-out. I'll get my oldest
GR> daughter to write to him or my 4th born could do dictation with me
GR> doing the writing.
GR> Again, thanks for the replies.
No problem. Jeremy got the response and was so excited. I never saw
this kid so excited about writing. We run a BBS so it was easy to
set things up. They have their own Bwave and we have internet mail
access for our readers. Now that the kids have a part of the BBS they
can receive and send it also. I'm not sure how the moderator feels
about this pen-pal stuff so I wanted to be sure the kids could use
internet mail if necessary. Setting up Bwave was kinda tough though.
Had to set up a folder for each one with their mail being u/l and d/l
locally. Doesn't matter to Jeremy who writes him. His letters probably
won't be long as he has always hated writing and therefore his skills
are not very sharp for his age. I thought this would give the kids
incentive to write more.
We did a paper a couple of weeks ago. They had to write a real story.
Jeremy's was 3 sentences. Sara's was 3 pages and Jon's was 1 1/2 pages.
Sara is my perfectionist and very high IQ girl. Jon is learning disabled
but is doing fairly well. Jeremy is ADHD and tries real hard, but can't
concentrate very well. He wrote in the ADHD area and for 10 minutes he
kept erasing it over and over again. I finally wrote it for him, my
words and his ideas. To show him how to start. He should be okay with
answering though as the ideas will already be there. Thanks alot.
Regina
... All I need is a Wave and a board to surf it on.
