It's been awhile now since I did this and I don't recall all
the names and command syntax required but I arranged to read the
log file from PPP as it was being written during the attempts
to authenticate. I did this by opening another window. I was
eventually able to find the problem but to be honest, I've
forgotten just what the problem was. :-\

Many who agreed to teach programming were actually computer
systems retailers developing a market for themselves. The
programming success or failure was of no real consequence to
them.
