 From memory I just had like
DIM PATH as STRIN * 81
PATH=STRING(81," ")  'Fills 'PATH' up with SPACES..
then read in ya dir with GET.. and you should be able to use RTRIM$..
 if that does not work, I'm dreaming.. I did do it but just cant remember how 
:)
 Or I think I might of saved spaces after the PATH in the DAT file.. Hmm.. :(
