They're still great for taping stuff from FM radio, or for party tapes. FM
has a high noise floor, parties have a high noise floor too. Either way,
the sound is cleaner than analog Compact Cassette even at EP speed.
The downside of VCRs as audio recorders is they do occasionally give you a
dropout.
