Hi Paul

RM> Not got OS/2. Got Dos5 and dv. Dv makes the base mem requirements a

 RM> bit tighter.

Memory will be even tighter, actually. Ppoint runs Bink by shelling

and running a batch file, so the sorting prog will have to run

after Bink and before Ppoint returns from shell. In a typical dv

window, this leaves me with 315k of ram. EMS/XMS should be

available, though.

RM> However, if you're willing to part with the msgbase specs, I'll

RM> cheerfully write my own sorter. This is beginning to be a pest. I'd

RM> started this reply a few days ago, and it took me some time to find

RM> it again tonight to finish it.

PM> There's no message base in my program.

Hokay, then how bout the "packet" specs??

PM> The way it works is to take the

PM> packets you download from Paul and sort them into subject order and

PM> create a new packet. This packet would then be fed into PPoint as

PM> normal. This assumes that PPoint puts the messages on its messages

PM> base in the order they were in the packet.

It seems to do so.

PM> The way I've written it there's no chance it would run under DOS

PM> unless you use something like GNU to compile it. I don't have the DOS

PM> version of GNU so I can't try it.

If I sign a non-disclosure agreement in blood, could I have a go at

rewriting it for limited ram under BC++?

Cheers
