In fact, Adams' last words (to his grand-daughter Susanna) were, "Help
me, child! Help me!"

His second-to-last words, more to the point, were, "Thomas Jefferson
survives."  Adams died at about 6:20PM.  Jefferson had passed away at
about 1PM the same day.
